Cheerleading I

Cheerleading is a sport that consists of elements of gymnastics, acrobatics, dance, and cheering. Operators of this sport are referred to as cheerleaders. The primary task of cheerleaders was originally to cheer on their own sports team and to animate the audience present at events and competitions, for example American football and basketball, and now many other team sports.

Today cheerleading is mainly practiced as an independent competitive sport. Throughout the year, various cheerleading championships take place on a national and international level. According to a fixed set of rules, the teams (also called "squads") can present a 2-3 minute routine consisting of the elements mentioned above. This is then judged by judges according to difficulty and execution. Most teams work consistently towards the championships and now see this as their main task.
