Surfing

Surfing, also known as surfing, is a water sport that takes advantage of the dynamic shape of a water wave to move along the water while standing on a surfboard. Today's form of surfing originated on the islands of Hawaii (Hawaiian heʻe nalu 'wave gliding'). After being almost brought to a standstill by missionaries in the 19th century, surfing experienced a new boom in the 1950s when many US Americans discovered the sport for themselves. Nowadays, many competitions are held where surfers prove their skills. You can surf not only in Hawaii, California or Australia, but also in Europe there are numerous beaches that are well suited for surfing. All you need is a surfboard, surf wax, a leash - a cord about two meters long that secures the board to your leg - and possibly a surf suit. The two possible positions on the board are called Regular Foot and Goofy Foot.
